Over the last ten years, China Association of Mayors has established relations of cooperation with relevant institutions of over a dozen countries in the world, signed memoranda of cooperation with mayors’ associations in the United States, Germany and Greece, and set up schemes of reciprocal visits with the local government associations of the Russian Federation, Israel, and the Philippines, and the Mayors’ Association of the Austrian State of Lower Austria (Nieder Osterreich).


The Association also implements two long-term inter-government cooperation projects.  One of them is the project of sponsoring, in cooperation with the German International Development Fund, Chinese mayors’ participation in the symposium on modern urban management held in Germany.  This project has been going on since 1982 and enabled 260 Chinese mayors to attend the symposium over a span of twenty years.  The other is a project in cooperation with the Ministry of National Development of Singapore, which sponsors the participation of mayors in senior workshops in Singapore specially designed for the needs of Chinese mayors. The workshop is held twice a year and a round scheduled to last five years; so far a total of 166 mayors have attended it.
