Conference for 2010 China Urban Development Report Held in Shanghai&Guangzhou

To further promote the publicity of 2010 China Urban Development Report, China Association of Mayors (CAM) held the Conference for 2010 China Urban Development Report on 14 and 15 July 2011 in Shanghai and Guangzhou respectively.

Shanghai Conference: Participants seated left to right on the platform are Xu Shiping, the director of eastday.com, Mao Qizhi, the academician of IEAS(International Eurasian Academy of Sciences)and vice president of School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, Li Yaoxin, the head of Changning District, Tao Siliang, the vice president of CAM, Zhao Wen, the vice mayor of Shanghai City and vice president of CAM, Cui Hengde, the chief secretary of CAM and Gao Yun, the deputy head of Changning District.

Zhao Wen, the vice mayor of Shanghai City and vice president of CAM attended Shanghai Conference and pointed that, “2010 China Urban Development Report is a comprehensive annual report that researches and explores systematically the urban development problems of China, such as urban construction, urban management, urbanization strategies, and urban sustainable development capacity. The Report records the significant accomplishments and valuable experience in the fast urbanization course of China, makes a scientific summary and insightful exploration on the urbanization course of China, and provides solutions, proposals and decisions”. She believes this Report will become a useful tool for learning the urban development theory and improving the urban management.

Tao Siliang, the vice president of CAM delivered a speech and called for more attention and participation to China Urban Development Report from all circles of the society that are concerned with the urban development, with a hope to make the Report a paintbrush for the blueprint of China urban development course.

Li Yaoxin, the head of Changning District is introducing Changning District from the international livable and business-friendly perspective at Shanghai Conference.

Cui Hengde, the chief secretary of CAM, hosted the two conferences respectively.

Guangzhou Conference

Su Zequn, the executive vice mayor of Guangzhou city expressed at the conference that Guangzhou will continue to build its livable environment after the close of the Asian Games.

Professor Mao Qizhi delivered a special speech on 2010 China Urban Development Report pertaining to the development status of Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. The data shows urban population in 2010 is 665.57 million people with urbanization rate up to 49.68%, nearly half of the nation’s population.

Doctor Ni Pengfei commented on 2010 China Urban Development Report from expert’s perspective based on the development status of Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. He pointed out that urbanization is a subjective trend for the economic and social development, which is also the focus of China urban development in 2010.

Cai Yunnan, the vice president of Guangzhou Urban Planning & Design Survey Research Institute and the subeditor of 2010 China Urban Development Report delivered the Pearl River Delta Urban Development Report of 2010 at Guangzhou Conference.
