Brief Introduction on Domestic Training

Domestic Department takes charge of the CAM training work. As an integral part of CAM, Domestic Department’s mission is to “serve the urban development and mayor’s work” and it conducts different trainings, seminars and liaison work under the leadership of CAM Secretariat.

Following the instructions of Premier Wen Jiabao “CAM shall serve as a tie for the exchange of urban administration experience, a bridge for the urban cooperation, a forum for the research of urban issues and a base for the training of urban administrators”, CAM conducts trainings and seminars concerning various issues arising out of the urban construction and development, mainly include:

       1. Training: More than 20 mayor trainings have been organized with different training subjects since the foundation of CAM. Among the trainings, there are both the short-term mayor trainings and the mayor seminars jointly held with relevant countries and regions, such as the Urban Development Seminars that is held annually in China Mayors Plaza, and several mayor seminars in H.K. and Macau.

        2. Seminars: With regard to the pinch points and hot issues arising out of the urban construction and development in different phases, seminars with different subjects have been held timely in joint efforts of research institutions, universities and colleges. Such seminars are generally conducted in the form of discussion, exchange, tour of investigation and so on. For instance, “Urban Environmental Crisis Management Seminar” was held jointly with Yale University of USA in Shenzhen in 2007; 2009 Cross-Strait Four Regions Community Service Practice Forum was held jointly with China Association of Social Workers in Dongguan, Guangdong province; 2010 Urban Management Experience Exchange Meeting was held in the former Chongwen District of Beijing in joint efforts of CGA Peking University.

        3. Symposiums: Symposiums attended by certain mayors were held with regard to the problems encountered during the urban management. The minutes of the Symposium would be submitted to relevant departments of central government for decision-making reference.

Apart from the above work, Domestic Department has organized a lot of featured activities in collaboration with other departments of CAM.
